A gorgeous antique pearl pin created from hundreds of tiny pearls! The pearls were threaded with horsehair onto a mother of pearl backing. There are four tiers of pearls arranged in the shape of flowers that resemble the romantic lace the Victorians adored. These pearl jewelry pieces were given to a girl on her 18th birthday or for a bride on her wedding day. The blonde horsehair was collected from a living horse and then the pearl were painstakingly added to the mother of pearl frame. This pin is finished with a 14K gold c-clasp and a stem that extends well past the edge. More of a collectible than a wearable piece. It would make a lovely addition to your Victorian jewelry collection or as a bridal gift since not many of these have survived.
This pin is in very good condition. There are three of the larger sized pearls missing from the center florets. We've priced it down accordingly. Other than that this has stood the test of time very well and is simply amazing. The pin clasp acid tested to 14K gold.
