A lovely example of a Victorian mourning flower pin created from gold gilt, French jet, and a tiny seed pearl center. French jet is glass that was used in many Victorian mourning jewelry designs. Since this pin has a pearl, it would have been worn during the half mourning period. Pearls were symbolic of tears when used in mourning pieces. The pin has a c-clasp and tube style hinge.
In good condition for its age. There is one 11mm section of the side that has been chipped at the edge that is not too noticeable due to the design of the flower. There is also some rubbing of the gilt on the reverse. The pin works well. See photos.
