A Victorian gold washed gilt pin with a lyre, floral elements and two coral stones. The lyre was a symbol of Apollo, the god of the arts. It was sometimes given to those who were gifted musically and was a symbol of wisdom and moderation. Coral was believed to promote health and a long life. It was often worn by children. A truly sentimental piece of Victorian jewelry.
Condition: This pin is in great condition with only a little wear to the gilt. There is a center pin that most likely held another stone or decorative piece that is missing. The pin stem, tube hinge and c-clasp are in great shape as well. Priced down accordingly for the missing piece but still a lovely and unusual brooch.
