Antique Hand Engraved 10K or 12K Gold Front Lace Pin

A lovely example of the lace pins used in the Victorian to Edwardian time periods. The front of the pin is 10K-12K gold topped. Meaning there is a thick piece of solid gold that is attached to a non-gold base. It was then engraved and chased by hand with a floral motif. The clasp is a safety pin style and the construction is top notch. This is a very well made piece despite it being unmarked. This pin's top was carefully acid tested and it is somewhere between 10K or 12K gold.

Lace pins were used to close pieces of lace or lightweight fabrics, such as lace collars or drapes. For your reference, I have included a photo from the 1903-1904 catalog from S.F. Myers & CO which shows a similarly constructed pin (#82).

Condition:  In excellent/very good condition. The top is excellent and the bottom does have some darkening appropriate for its age.
