A drop dead gorgeous large cross pin or pendant brooch by D&E, Delizza and Elster. This cross was made in several different colors, but this is the prettiest one I have ever seen! It has very unusual glass faux opal cabochons that are similar in construction to the dragon's breath color with an encased foil that reflects the light from within the stone. The stone is mainly a vibrant pink, but you get flashes of amazing purple-blue colors when you move. Those stones are accented with deep Siam red chatons and fuchsia navettes. The navettes can look more pink or more purple depending on the lighting. The brooch can be worn as a pin or as a pendant via the bail on the back. This design was shown on page 108 of Ann Pittman's Juliana Jewelry Reference, Delizza & Elster: Identification & Price Guide book with a value of $150-250.
Condition: In excellent/very good condition. There is a small amount of wear to the plating on a few prongs on the front, the back plating is in fantastic shape and the pin works well. One navette has a very small chip on an edge and the main cabochon has some inclusions that appear to have been made at manufacture that can be seen from the sides. The foil is raised a bit on the right side so it looks like there is a line in the stone but it is just the foil. On the left side, there is an inclusion that looks a little gray but the stone is smooth to the touch. Please see all photos.
