Namazu Brooch By Gory Dorky

Namazu Brooch By Gory Dorky

In Stock
A Namazu catfish Brooch by Gory Dorky! This is part of the Japanese Mythology Collection. In Japan, Namazu or Onamazu is a giant catfish who lives in the mud under the Japanese islands. When Namazu thrashes about, he causes tremors and earthquakes. Namazu was often portrayed with a stone or a bottle gourd holding him down to suppress him. For many Japanese Namazu was a metaphor for earthquakes and the symbolism still survives to this day. Created in layered handcast swirled acrylics with hand painted details. Gory Dorky jewelry is designed and made in the U.K.

Approx. Measurements:
3 1/8 inches high and 1 7/8 inches wide

Like all acrylic designs, protect your jewelry from excessive sunlight. Store it in a safe place and avoid banging it or dropping it. These are handcrafted jewelry designs and many use handcast acrylics. So some small imperfections in the acrylic, a little visible glue, a light scratch etc. should be expected.

Azure Aster is an authorized stockist of genuine Gory Dorky designs in the USA.
