A very unusual modernist design from Guadalajara, Mexico. These are screwback earrings with two round circles that hang down from two bowed lines. They make me think of cherries or an interpretation of the moon and the sun or a rainbow. One of the circles is solid sterling, the other is art glass (looks like dichroic glass). The earrings are very well constructed and we did not polish them so they retain the aged patina.
Overall the condition is fantastic. There are numerous markings on the back of one circle and the back of the tops of the earrings. There is HANDMADE GUARANTEED STERLING 925 GUAD MEX, what I believe is a Patent number for the earring finding and a few other letters I cannot make out. There is no eagle stamp which would make this pre 1948!
