This unusual vermeil (gold plated over sterling silver) water lily pin is smashing! This style of pin was popular in the 1940's but they are usually floral sprays with a bow or rhinestones on stalks. I've never seen one in a water lily design! The gold plating is in great condition with only a little loss on a few areas on the back of the pin from rubbing (see back photo), one stem edge, and the very edges of the lily pads. There are three lily pads, a lily flower and six light blue, prong set and foiled rhinestones. The larger rhinestones are open backed and there is some wear and darkening of the foil. Pin is marked "STERLING' on a stem.
