A Mary Poppins's Parrot Umbrella Brooch by Tantalising Treasures! A nod to Mary Poppins's parrot umbrella which made its first appearance in the short story Mary Poppins And The Match Man written by P. L. Travers in 1926. At this time in her life Mary was an "underneath nurse" who took care of the Bank's family children because she was too young to officially be a nanny just yet. It is interesting to note that Mary's umbrella was based upon an umbrella that P.L.Travers first fell in love with as a child. Her personal parrot umbrella was donated to the NY Public Library in 1972.
