A fabulous Akoya Japanese pearl pin from the 1950's. This pin features five 6mm cultured pears on a rhodium plated sterling silver pin. Unlike other vintage Akoya pins, this one does not have a floral motif and has a more modern look to it that will translate well to todays fashions.
It is interesting to note that this pin has the same style of clasp, pinstem and hinge that was used by Mikimoto during this period. It is only marked silver. There was some information that after the war Mikimoto did not mark some of their export pieces. I have not been able to confirm this, but the quality, construction and findings used for this pin is much like a Mikimoto.
Condition: In excellent condition with a small rub on the back of one of the pearls.
